The Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association are set to play the CBA’s Guangzhou Long-Lions this fall in a preseason match.

Taking place at Washington, D.C.'s Capital One Arena on October 2, the game will be the first of the preseason for the Wizards.

The match will be special for a couple reasons: for one, it will be a homecoming (of sorts) for American Tyler Hansbrough of the Guangzhou Long-Lions, who was formerly the star of the University of North Carolina’s basketball squad, and two, the Wizards (formerly the Washington Bullets) hold the honor of being first professional US sports team to be invited to the Middle Kingdom.

Previously based in Foshan, the Long-Lions relocated to Guangzhou in 2016.
