Advanced warning: what follows will include lengthy bureau and department titles, but it is worth the read, because it's important and it may affect YOU!
Due to an information systems upgrade, the Exit and Entry Administration Department of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau – aka the lovely folks who deal with your visa and residency permit issuance and inquiries – will suspend service from Friday, August 18 to Sunday, August 20.
According to a statement issued by the Division of Exit and Entry Administration Department of Public Security of Guangdong Province, the service interruption will affect both locals and foreigners.
What services does this apply to? Well, almost all of them, by the sounds of it. The main accreditation hall (located near Haizhu Square) will be shuttered during the systems upgrade and Exit and Entry Administration electronic platforms, including its WeChat, mobile app and website, will go offline.
Telephone service will also be suspended.
Those in urgent need of visa, residency permit or stay certificate assistance may visit any of the Bureau's other local accreditation service halls in Guangzhou (perhaps the Panyu or Dongshankou locations) during working hours on Friday, August 18.
