A fight erupted yesterday morning on Guangzhou’s Metro Line 1, when a “fierce quarrel” between two young men turned into physical violence, according to a Tencent News report

The incident took place at shortly after 8am on a train leaving Yangji Station, after one of the gentlemen allegedly accused the other of being rude. Words quickly turned to fisticuffs and pretty soon both men were beating the preverbal crap out of each other on a packed, rush hour metro carriage.

At some point, one of the men pulled out a knife, or what has been comically described in one Chinese media report as “a bling bling knife.” Luckily, his better sense (or something like that) kicked in and he didn’t use the blade.

Metro staff and passengers were eventually able to break up the fight and persuade the man to hand over the weapon.

While it is unclear what punishment the two fighters will receive, it has been suggested they will likely face a fine and 10 days administrative detention.
