You Can Now Report Taxi Drivers through WeChat in Guangzhou

First there was swiping your phone to get into the metro, now there's this: a way to report taxi drivers through WeChat.

Two companies, Baiyun Taxi Group and Guangzhou Transportation Group, are onboard with the program. Baiyun operates light blue taxis in the city, while Guangzhou Transportation Group is in charge of the red fleet (here's how to identify the other colors). Both companies announced the launching of their new WeChat systems on Tuesday, according to Guangzhou Daily.

After following the official accounts of Baiyun Taxi Group (WeChat ID: bytaxiweixin) and Guangzhou Transportation Group (WeChat ID: GTGTAXI), you can submit details of what happened. Complaints will be reviewed by the city's Transportation Department. There's also an option to leave a comment to the taxi company about your ride.

If your Chinese is rusty, here are two quick guides to making the WeChat reports.

If you'd rather talk to someone, the two companies have 24-hour hotlines. Staff members will record your complaint and take action if necessary and you will reportedly be notified about  the results within five working days. For blue taxis, call 020-8360 0000; for red taxis, try 020-96122.

If you had a bad experience while riding a taxi of another color, you can still report the car on the Guangzhou Transportation Administration WeChat account, '广州交通执法.' And if you accidentally took a fake taxi (here's how to tell), call the government service hotline '12345.'
