Blue skies are newsworthy here in Guangzhou. Sure, the smog isn’t that bad – at least when compared to the stuff choking our poor neighbors to the north – but the haze and incessant rains do tend to keep our atmosphere fluctuating between various shades of gray (and far fewer than 50).
Except last night, that is, when WeChat Moments and Instagram feeds were flooded with striking photos of colorful cloud formations that had people exclaiming “I don’t want to leave!” and “Guangzhou finally stopped raining!”
