Today in questionable life choices: deciding to keep an arctic fox as a pet. That’s right, someone is keeping an arctic-adapted animal in sweltering subtropical Guangzhou.
The arctic fox is not considered a threatened or endangered species, but experts warn against keeping them as pets for a couple of reasons: 1) they're wild animals (duh…) and 2) they have scent glands that release a pretty potent (read: stinky) musk.
While a Tencent News report was sparse on details, aside from the fact the animal was recently spotted at the Guangdong University of Finance and Economics Sanshui campus and is owned by security staff there, we can thank them for the following selection of photos:
The fox is reportedly friendly and not afraid of people, although we would encourage our readers to stick to more conventional pets, like, you know, cats, dogs and goldfish.
