March 7: Idea Exchange

Founded in 2013, the Idea Exchange features a weekly guest speaker presenting on a topic of their expertise. The presentation is followed by a lively Q&A session to get attendees involved in the discussion and debate.  The event takes place every Tuesday at E Coffee.

This week, fitness guru and K2Fit Challenge founder Kara Wutzke will inspire you to remove physical and mental obstacles to get your body in shape.

March 7-8: Dance Drama – Lan Huahua by China Oriental Song and Dance Troup

Founded in 1962 with support from prominent officials in the CCP, the China Oriental Song and Dance Troup has lived up to its reputation as China’s creme de la creme in the realm of dance drama. Lan Huahua is one of the preeminent dance dramas of this renowned troupe, and tells a saddening love story set in Shaanxi that reflects the mindset of locals there as well as the region’s provocative customs.

March 8: Women’s Day Empowerment Mixer

Let’s be honest: ladies don’t mind receiving roses, taking advantage of sales and sipping free-flow wine at ladies’ nights, but International Women’s Day should make them feel empowered and not merely pampered, right? If the holiday means more to you ladies than pink carnations, join the Women’s Day Empowerment Mixer celebrate female empowerment in our community. March 11: DJ Dannic at The Sunshine Club

DJ Dannic, a prodigious DJ and producer from Breda in the Netherlands, is one of the hottest acts to emerge from the new generation of Dutch electronic artists. On Saturday night, Dannic is set to hit the decks at the newly-opened Sunshine Club, which is located beside Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich. Don’t miss out!

March 11: 1099

An indie post-rock band hailing from Norway, 1099 is a quartet of rockers focused on the tone of their music, rather than the structure of songs. Most songs are instrumental and few feature words, marking a departure from the genre’s norm. Join 1099 at T:union this week on their first tour of the Middle Kingdom.

Until March 28: Everyday – Art Exhibition

Art is born from everyday life, at least that’s what Guangzhou-based painter Zhang Wei hopes to prove in his latest exhibition. Growing up in a time of turbulence, Zhang learned to depict everyday objects and landscapes with his brush, rather than expressing subjects of political derision, black humor, sexual violence or fashion icons. There’s only one truth, he says, in reality.

All month: Black Truffle-themed Menu at Alfresco

Savor the 'diamond of the kitchen' at Langham’s semi-outdoor Italian restaurant, Alfresco, where Executive Sous Chef Andrea from Venice will elevate the art of Italian cuisine once again with a black truffle-inspired menu and refined specialties. Foie gras salad is deliciously paired with truffle and mixed with caramelized green apple and fruit masala wine reduction. The homemade pumpkin ravioli and ricotta cheese, grana padano, butter, black truffle, is also a must-try.
