After shocking acts of vandalism forced the closure of Panyu’s Hollywood-Mama's Pizza two and a half weeks ago, the establishment is set to reopen tonight!
The aforementioned episode occurred on February 7, when two groups of men got into a fight at the pub.
After the altercation was over, the men left, although one group returned an hour later to viciously assault the bar’s owner, Andrew Marks, before taking their rage out on the establishment itself.
All told the business suffered over RMB100,000 in damages.
In the aftermath of the incident, Marks set to cleaning up and rebuilding, putting hammer to nail for the past two weeks with the goal of reopening and getting back to business as usual.
Construction officially wrapped up last night.
“I think during troubled times, when people pull through with you, you will always succeed afterwards,” said Marks. “You have to be strong, the only way to move is forward.”
So, what can Hollywood’s loyal patrons expect in light of the reno? According to Marks, regulars will notice a few new additions to the bar, including VIP sofa areas and a new and improved sound system.
The same great edibles will also be available, including Hollywood’s renowned ‘Mama’s Pizzas,’ which, although we’ve never sampled, are apparently a knockout. (We know this based on the backlash we received for not including them on our list of favorite Guangzhou pizza eateries.)
Everyone is welcome to attend tonight’s reopening bash, which will feature a performance by The Flower Bridge Band, free sparkling wine and RMB25 pints of draught beer all night.
