February 14: Idea Exchange
The Idea Exchange returns from their Chinese New Year break this week with a new program at E Coffee, a gorgeous new venue in the heart of Guangzhou’s Tianhe District. This Tuesday, be prepared to broaden your understanding of deaf people and the hard-of-hearing with Linda Wang, an audiologist and speech therapist. Linda will elaborate on hearing loss and the very special deaf culture which has evolved around it. She'll also offer advice on how to protect your hearing and information on how technology can improve hearing.

February 14: Musical Scores on Valentine's Day
Mark Gibson, music director of the CCM Philharmonia Orchestra at the University of Cincinnati, has enjoyed a career that's spanned three continents. At this concert, a team of professional musicians will perform under Gibson's baton to present a number of scores from famous musical like Gypsy, Guys and Dolls, Kiss Me Kate and West Side Story. Come to Xinghai Concert Hall on Valentine’s Day for ‘A Groovy Kind of Love.’

February 14: Cafe Lanai
Cafe Lanai is a Canadian duo playing house and disco music inspired by the tropical sounds of Hawaii and its rich island traditions. The Consulate General of France invites all photographers, both novice and professional, to participate in this year’s Voies Off Festival. Starting every year in July, Voies Off is a celebration of photography that features the work of 60 selected photographers. It’s a great opportunity for young, aspiring photographers to showcase their works to the world (and winners will walk away with EUR5,000). To apply, go to www.voies-off.com. February 17: DJ Mykris in W Guangzhou
Combining progressive house, electro house, tech house and house with deep melodies, Mykris has a magical way of making EDM lovers freak out. He is musically talented, well spoken and traveled, and, as many giddy fans can attest, he isn’t hard on the eyes either. Over the past decade, he has gone from a student at Miami’s Scratch DJ Academy to a resident DJ at one of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world – Ultra. DJ Mykris will be visiting the PRD this month, with shows announced in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Macau. Come to W Guangzhou on the evening of February 17 to rock with the DJ.
