Like a phoenix from the ashes, Tristan’s CalMex and Bar is planning a triumphant return this December – opening in a larger location a short walk from the old establisment.
Renovations begin on the new location tomorrow (to get everything up to proprietor Tristan Sapp’s high standards of cleanliness and badassery) and are expected to last a couple weeks, leading Sapp to suggest a pre-Christmas launch is likely.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with the saga of Tristan’s CalMex and Bar, it began over a year ago, built on delicious and hearty eats, good music and laidback vibes. Unfortunately, the joyride came to an end back in September when licensing issues forced the restaurant's closure.
But now, Mr. Sapp is (almost) back in business.
Loyal patrons of Sapp’s old restaurant will be happy to know that all the classic eats (burritos, chimichangas, tacos, burgers, etc.) will be back, along with a reintroduction of pizzas and a possible soup and sandwich combo. Also, taco Tuesdays.
For those of you that loved Tristan’s CalMex and Bar for the great selection of board and card games (Cards Against Humanity anyone?), rest assured, they will make an appearance at the new location. Also, Sapp is toying with the idea of adding a retro emulator gaming cabinet to the premises so that your significant other can kick your ass at Street Fighter or Golden Axe.
Tristan’s 2.0 will also feature live music.
“We can’t get too crazy since we are still in the village but will have acoustic music and will be able to feature electric acts as long as they don’t get too loud,” said Sapp.
Located in a garden between Huangpu Dadao and Xiyu Heng Jie, only an 8-minute walk from Tiyu Xilu Metro Exit H, we can’t wait to stop by and check out the new digs!
Keep tuned to That’s PRD for updates on the return of Tristan’s CalMex and Bar.
