November 14: Beyond Border
Beyond Border is a dance project presented by Beijing Dance LDTX, in collaboration with two talented Polish choreographers. Consisting of three programs, the project’s first dance 'The 360th Seed' is a reflection of the perseverance to grow instead of withering, while the second dance 'Whiplash' presents the powerful effect of whiplash of accidental happenings to one’s decision making and the third program, 'Beyond the Horizon,' tells a story of seekers for spiritual homes.

November 15: Pango
Brought to you by Atamira Dance Company from New Zealand, Pango is presented through the dancers’ mesmeric movements and sound effects produced by traditional Maori musical instruments. The dancers move around in a sacred space filled with the reverberation of ancient Maori prayers, entering into the blackness before the existence of light. The program will last for about one hour.

November 17: Journey to the West
Presented by City Contemporary Dance Company from Hong Kong, the production of Journey to the West turn a story familiar to every single Chinese person into a contemporary dance adventure. Choreographer and founder of CCDC Willy Tsao, one of the most prolific Chinese choreographers, breathes life into his works, which are often inspired by Chinese history, philosophy, opera and even rock and roll. Come to the Guangdong Dance Festival to see this dance adaption of one of the most classic Chinese novels.

November 17: Beaujolais Nouveau Day in Guangzhou
In concert with the General Consulate of France in Guangzhou, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China is bringing Beaujolais Nouveau to Guangzhou again this year. Beaujolais Nouveau Day which is marked in France on the third Thursday in November to celebrate the first wine of the season, has been observed in many a country for years. Taking place on November 17 at Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich, the event will see over 600 invited guests and a convivial evening.

November 17: Hooley’s Trivia Night

November 18-December 2: Roméo et Juliette the Musical
Based on Shakespeare’s namesake play, French musical Roméo et Juliette has gone on stages throughout Europe and translated into many languages. The brainchild of French choreographer Redha Benteifour, with music and lyrics by French popular composer Gérard Presgurvic, this production has entertained audiences with some tweeks to the plot: the nature of the lovers’ death is different and new characters such as Death and The Poet are introduced. Coming to the Guangzhou Opera House this November, Roméo and Juliette is your must-seen musical of the year.

November 19: BSG International Day 2016
The British School of Guangzhou’s biggest event of the year will take place on November 19. A fun family event, this festival brings everyone together in celebration of the variety of cultures and nationalities within the school and greater Guangzhou community.

November 19: The 2016 Job Fair for Foreigners in Guangzhou
Are you tired of your job as a roadside baozi salesmen? Is your boss an unfriendly prude that has made you resentful of your existence? If you answered yes to either of these questions then we strongly encourage you to quit, pack your bags and move to Sri Lanka, where you should probably start a surf shop and live exclusively off curries…If that sounds like too big of a commitment, then we humbly suggest attending Guangzhou’s annual Job Fair for Foreigners on November 19!

November 19: Hooley's 8th Annual Battle of the Bands Finals!
After three nights of musical mayhem, a couple of broken guitar strings and countless pints of beer, the finalists have been selected for Hooley’s 8th Annual Battle of the Bands. The expert panel of judges (after serious deliberation and a couple of vodka-tonics) settled on six bands: Asker Band, Gun, Memory Car, Mojoheads, Wizzards of Doom and Spacefolk. The finals will kick off at 8pm this Saturday, November 19, at Hooley’s Irish Pub. If you have never had a chance to attend the BOTB finale, we assure you it is one of Guangzhou’s premier yearly events – particularly for those passionate about local independent music.

November 20: Popface
Hailing from Stavanger, Norway, indie rock band Popface has perfected the balance between loud and quiet, cascading between walls of electric guitars and the gentle whisper of the acoustic. For years, Popface has been looked upon as being one of Norway's finest live acts and is well known for always delivering great live shows. Come see them play live at T:union.
