October 10: Canadian Thanksgiving at The Brew
If there is one thing people of all nations can get behind in Guangzhou it’s Thanksgiving. It is like a cheeky, early bonus Christmas dinner. And before Thanksgiving Thanksgiving, there is Canadian Thanksgiving, which is like an even cheekier, even earlier bonus Christmas dinner. October 11-23: Blue Man Group
As part of their new worldwide tour, the legendary Blue Man Group is bringing their wildly popular and award-winning production to Guangzhou this month. Presenting a synthesis of comedy, theatre, rock and dance, the Blue Man Group combines science, comedy, music and vibrant visual effects, leaving audiences with a fully immersive audio-visual experience. October 14: Ewan Dobson
As one of Canada’s accomplished musicians, Ewan Dobson has mastered the art of fingerstyle guitar. His musical approach – a fusion of shred metal guitar, classical and bluegrass music – is often referred to as ‘acoustic metal,’ and has won him countless awards, including grand prizes at both the Burlington Rotary Fall Music Festival and the Pickering Rotary Music Festival in 1996 and 1998.

October 15: Helipad Party II
After the success of the very first Helipad Party back in May, DME.events and Crowne Plaza Guangzhou City Centre are proud to announce the sequel: HELIPAD II. October 15: Cara Dillon
By adhering to her rich Irish heritage, Dillon has emerged as one of the best female folk singers in her home country. She released her self-titled debut album with support from her musical partner and husband, Sam Lakeman. Her talent and devotion to Irish folk music has consistently been recognized at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and the Meteor Music Awards, where she was awarded Best Traditional Song (for ‘Black is the Colour’), Best Irish Female, Best Folk Act and Best Traditional Act among many other accolades.

October 15: Silver Ring Crafting
If you’ve ever thought about fashioning your own ring, this workshop is the answer! Run by Yizhi Ornament Studio, a local company based in Redtory that handcrafts silver jewelry, the workshop offers classes for anyone interested in forging a ring from selected patterns or from one’s imagination.

October 16: Viking Dragon Boat Competition and Soulwhite Pool Party
Challenge your strength and make the most of the last days of summer at the Viking Dragon Boat Competition and Soulwhite Pool Party. The day starts off with a tug-of-war style dragon boat competition that pits opposing teams in a head to head battle. Two teams of four challengers compete in each round, with teams seated face to face in one dragon boat. The horn sounds and then both teams dig deep to paddle the boat across their finish line first. Each quick, sudden death round will be a challenge of the contestants’ might and will, and will be a definite thrill for spectators and paddlers alike. This is a first-of-its-kind event in China, and the competition is open to all regardless of experience level. Spaces are limited so register now by scanning the QR code below:
The teams will need crowd support to help them give their all, so even if you don’t want to compete, come along and enjoy the excitement and spectacle of dragon boat, tug-of-war style. Competitions run from 11am to 3pm this Sunday at the Tianhe Sports Centre outdoor pool. After the winners are announced, the fun continues with the Soulwhite Pool Party from 3pm till late. DJ Mauro will get the party started with Latin vibes from 3-6pm. As the sun sets, the fun will continue with more DJs, dancing and drinks until late.
