May 17-22: Broadway Musical: My Fair Lady

Eulogized as “one of the best musicals of the century” by the New York Times, Broadway musical My Fair Lady will be glamorously on stage in Guangzhou this coming May. Based on George Bernard Shawn’s play Pygmalion, it is a story about language and clash of cultures, vividly depicted by a Cockney flower girl’s encountering with a misogynistic professor. Get your hands on the tickets now for this six-time Tony Award winner.

May 18: Kousuke Atari China Tour

Kousuke Atari is a Japanese enka artist. He is a self-trained musician, and performs in the shimauta (Japanese island-song) style of his hometown. Most of his Chinese fans began to know and like him from the Taiwan moive Cap No. 7, where he performed the scores with his unique, pure voice and excellent techniques. Commencing a tour throughout China this year, Atari arrives in Guangzhou to perform a collection of some of his cool and refreshing songs. Don’t miss out.

May 20: Italian A Cappella Mezzotono

Italian a cappella group Mezzotono’s performances have been applauded in theaters in 34 countries worldwide. Their style ranges from jazz, classic, bossa nova, mambo to tango, making them popular among theaters, concert halls and music festivals. 

Head to Xinghai Concert Hall on May 20 for an amusing night of a cappella.

May 21: European Chamber 10th Anniversary 'Gala of Thrones'

The gala will be held at the Four Seasons Guangzhou, located in the iconic IFC Tower in Zhujiang New Town, and will feature pleasant music, dazzling views and a ‘kings and queens’ theme.  

The cocktail reception, dinner and entertainment will run from 6.30-10pm and be followed by an after party that is expected to go until the wee-hours of the morning.

May 21: Dr. Panda Comedy Club: Nick Milnes Live in Guangzhou

Every month, comedians from Hong Kong (as well as one international headliner) take a train up to the mainland to perform at The Paddy Field Bar and Restaurant in Taojin as part of the Dr. Panda Comedy Club. This month, Canadian comic Andrew Newman will crack you up with his dry wit. And then, get ready for some British black humor prepared by “a true pioneer of Asia’s comedy scene” Nick Milnes who hails from Britain. They are ready to entertain and you’d better reserve your tickets now.

May 21: 2016 Lingnan Forum Series on International Management

The Lingnan Forum Series on International Management, organized by Lingnan MBA Center and Lingnan (University) College of Sun Yat-sen University will feature guest speakers discussing the ins and outs of international management. Each speaker is a senior executive from a multinational company. The forums will cover a wide range of business subjects in entrepreneurship, professional ethics and practical cases, marketing and branding, risk management and so forth. May 21 will feature CEO of Esquel Group John Cheh, while Business Director of Ogilvy Public Relations Candy Li is to lecture on May 28.
