The 2018 Tiandi World Music Festival is set to rock Lingnan Tiandi in Foshan this weekend. This year’s edition is bringing together six famous Chinese bands to perform their original compositions, which vary in style but all boasts unique characters. There’s Stellar, a Beijing-based group who excel at mixing traditional Chinese music with the sound of classical guitar; Toy Captain, who sing in Chaoshan dialect, creatively weaving reggae, pop and folk elements into their sound; the mysterious Yunnan band, Shepherd, who has been experimenting Chinese ethnic music with rock, reggae, electronic and world music, to name just a few. Music workshops and flea markets are set up to entertain audiences throughout the two-day concert.
