It hasn’t been long since Xiaomi founder Lei Jun went viral for his recent product launch speech and its amazingly awkward English. The video of the event captured the CEO having difficulty with a few lines of English, ultimately culminating in the forceful delivery of the now famous line “Are you OK?”
Well, that video’s back and it’s back in a big way.
The coming of the Lei Jun autotune remix was inevitable in this day and age. The song splices together different choice moments from the short speech to make an admittedly catchy song, and brings everyone’s favorite “Are you OK?” back for the chorus (warning: do not click if you don’t want the CEO of Xiaomi to be stuck in your head all week).
Xiaomi, meanwhile, turned its fail into a win by getting on board with the joke. The autotuned version was tweeted out by Manu Jain, the company’s India head, and even received the Lei Jun stamp of approval in the form of a retweet.
That kind of self-deprecating humor is a powerful capability these days, and Lei’s personality is what really might make him a 'Chinese Steve Jobs.' More power to you, Lei Jun. Still waiting on the mixtape.
