Tomato harvests are being dumped this year because prices are too low

Tomato prices have fallen to less than half of what they were last year, prompting farmers in Zhejiang Province to dump heir harvests instead of picking them and sending them to market.

In Ruian County, Wenzhou many farmers have reportedly been littering the roadsides with the fruit as they switch to growing cucumbers instead.

This January, dairy farmers in in Hebei, Shandong, and Qinghai who bought cows at a price peak in 2013 ended up emptying their yield into the fields when prices took a similar nosedive.

The sight of all these wasted ingredients has been breaking hearts across the internet. At least you know where to go now if you want free tomatoes, though.
