According to Chinese media, representatives from South Korea have suggested the construction of a highspeed rail lining connecting Beijing to Seoul.

The project would consist of two different stages: the first would extend the existing Busan-Seoul line up to Pyongyang while the second would reach from the North Korean capital across the Yalu River and on to Beijing via Dandong and Shenyang.

A highspeed line is set to connect Shenyang with Dandong soon, and a bullet trains will connect Beijing to the Liaoning provincial capital come 2019.

If construction starts soon on the pan-Korean Peninsula leg, trains could start running on the proposed 1,700-kilometer line before 2030, taking you from the PRC to ROK capital in as little as six hours.

The foreign ministers of South Korea,  China and Japan met in Seoul over the weekend for their first trilateral talks in three years.
