We are the spampions: China overtakes US as world's #1 junk email source

We are proud to announce China has finally become the world's foremost source of unsolicited bulk emails in the last quarter of 2014. 

For most of last year, and in previous years, the United States was where most of the junk emails filling up our inboxes came from. China has finally come out on top, though, with one in six of your spam emails to originating in the People's Republic. 

The company that publishes the list every quarter, Sophos, makes it clear that the list is biased towards countries with reliable internet connections and larger populations.

When looking at the amount of spam per capita, China still has a long way to go: in the last quarter of 2014, South Korea topped the list with a computer there five times more likely to send out spam than a computer in the US.
