Anyone who has been struck down by food poisoning will be happy to hear of the arrest of 110 people suspected of selling pork from pigs that had died of disease.
Those arrested reportedly made up 11 groups who bought up contaminated meats and re-sold it to markets across 11 provinces, including Henan and Guangxi. Some of the meat was processed into bacon or cooking oil.
The investigation, which had been ongoing since 2013, revealed bribery of food supervisory authorities and the involvement of several food quarantine staff.
This comes in the wake of other high profile scandals such as tainted milk powder and the 10,000 dead pigs floating in Shanghai's Huangpu River in 2013.
These latest arrests also saw the confiscation of 1,000 tons of contaminated pork. It seems criminal gangs continue to make a pig's breakfast out of food safety in China.
