Almost all parents tell their kids to go to the police for help should they find themselves lost and alone, but in Suzhou even the dogs are quick on the uptake.
At around 4:00am on November 1, a policeman was busily at work in his office when he saw an indistinct shadow prowling in front of the station. As he walked out, he was surprised to find a lost-looking Alaskan malamute.
The police had a new mission: find the owner for him. Aside from spreading the word amongst friends and colleagues, they started to post the news on Weibo, WeChat and other websites, hoping to find his owner through social media.
Meanwhile, the duteous dog was kicking it back in the police station, wolfing down leftovers and shaking paws with the off-duty cops.
Just as beautiful friendships were beginning, the officers got a WeChat message saying that someone had seen the dog before, and that it might belong to a property manager living in a nearby neighborhood.
Following inquiries, the prospective owner came over to the station. As soon as he stepped in, the dog darted over and pounced him affectionately. He held onto the dog's head and said, "I looked for him for days, I can't believe I finally found him!"
"He actually came to us for help," the officer said, "we couldn't believe it either!"
