29-year-old Briton Rurik Jutting has been arrested in Hong Kong on suspicion of what have been described as "American Psycho-style" killings.
Jutting, a graduate of Winchester College and Cambridge University, worked as a trader at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was transferred to the Hong Kong office in July.
He was held after police discovered the naked bodies of two young women in his J Residence serviced apartment on 60 Johnston Road, Wan Chai. Jutting allegedly called police to his home at 3:42am Saturday morning shortly after killing his second victim.
The woman, a 30-year-old Filipina, was found with multiple stab wounds to her neck and buttock and certified dead at the scene. Assistant Commander Wan Siu-hung said:
We believe the death was caused by a sharp object which cut the throat of the deceased. This led to copious bleeding. When the police found her, she was lying in the living room. The room was messy.
The body of a second woman, identified as 25-year-old Indonesian Sumarti Ningsih, was found stuffed inside a suitcase on the balcony of his 31st-floor flat, "partially decapitated" and in an advanced state of decomposition.
The two women were reportedly sex workers Jutting picked up in nearby Lockhart Road's red light district. Sex toys and cocaine were also found in the apartment.
One reported told the Telegraph that he had vanished from his workplace a week ago. It has also been reported that he resigned from his post days before the news of the murders emerged.
