A shopping mall in Yichang, Hubei has constructed a walkway lined with gold bricks worth over RMB200m lying underneath.
Completed on Saturday, the pathway contains 606 gold bars weighing approximately 606 kilograms. It was built to attract shoppers during the upcoming National Day's week-long "Golden Week" holiday, and also to celebrate the mall's 18th anniversary.
The golden walkway is said to be the most expensive tourist attraction in the history of the region.
Traditionally, gold is seen as a lucky color in China, symbolizing wealth (as you'd imagine) as well as happiness, so shoppers have been encouraged to use the pathway for good luck.
The pathway will be up until the end of Golden Week on October 7.
