China insists gargantuan marijuana grow-up spotted by satellite is legal hemp farm

It was reported on Monday that Gaofen 1, an HD earth observation satellite, had spotted what was said to be the largest ever marijuana grow-op in the history of the People’s Republic of China. Today, it has been suggested that the discovery is actually a legal hemp farm. Not quite so scandalous, considering such farms are spread across the country and grow hemp for your every day oil, fiber and seeds.

Although this is yet to be confirmed, the China National Space Administration has deleted its report regarding the detection of the leafy land. Oops.

The alleged pot plantation was found between Jilin province and Inner Mongolia, while the satellite also spotted a number of secret passageways across the border into North Korea (or more likely the other way around), as well as a vast amount of opium poppies in Heilongjiang.
