1 dead and 19 injured after another deadly bus arson attack hits Yantai, Shandong

After Guizhou, Sichuan, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou, it's now the turn of Yantai, Shandong to experience the latest in China's string of deadly bus fires.

 

 

At least one woman has been burned to death and 19 others have been sent to hospital as a result of the act of arson in Longkou City. Four of the injured remain in critical condition. One, a 35-year-old woman, suffered burns to 90% of her body.

 

 

 

The fire took place at rush hour yesterday morning, when the bus was filled with 49 passengers. Starting at the front of the bus at 8:30am, by the time the driver brought the vehicle to a halt and opened the doors it had already spread throughout the vehicle.

 

 

 

Witnesses reported seeing a roughly 50-year-old fleeing the scene with a container of petroleum. Local police have already obtained a suspect and investigations are ongoing.
