Numerous Japanese porn stars have had their Weibo accounts shuttered as part of an ongoing campaign against 'smut' by Chinese authorities.
"Cleaning the Web 2014", launched in mid-April with the express purpose of "eliminating pornography and illegal publications" from the web, has already claimed the scalps of Sherlock slash-fiction authors and Sina, one of China's largest online publishers.
Japanese AV (porn) stars are also coming under fire. The official sites of Anri Okita, Julia and Tony Ooki have disappeared from Weibo. China's most popular Japanese porn star, Sora Aoi, is as yet unaffected however, Aoi's 14.8 million followers are still able to access her page (the actress' transition into pop-stardom and tamer fare in recent years may have something to do with this).
