A man from Handan, Hebei Province, has used 119,300 yuan ($19,431) in loose change to buy an Audi.

Surnamed Li, the man turned up to a local Audi dealership in a van tightly packed with wads of 1 yuan notes and coins which he unpacked in boxes in front of staff.

Li works as a snacks wholesaler and customers pay him in petty cash which he saved over the years. Li had always dreamt of having an Audi, and recently decided to take the plunge and splurge on his life long dream.

It took several staff hours to count the 103,000 one-yuan bills and 16,300 one-yuan coins that Li brought along to the dealership on March 12.

Li joked that all of the loose change was becoming a serious headache for him because he had run out of storage space.
