A guide to the craziest flight MH370 conspiracy theories

New satellite images released by the Chinese government may or may not show wreckage from the missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370, but even if remnants of the plane are found, we likely won't find out just what happened for weeks, potentially years

In our previous explainer, we went over some of the most likely theories for the disappearance of flight MH370, and not much has changed other than the two guys travelling on stolen passports probably weren't terrorists, but economic migrants. Since rational thinkers can't come up with a convincing reason why the plane vanished (even the more plausible theories are based on very little evidence), let's take a look at the more irrational explanations.

Aliens abducted the plane

Forbidden Knowledge TV argues that records on the flight mapping site Flight Radar 24 show that the plane was interfered with something that could "only be termed a UFO". As evidence, the site pointed to a YouTube video which attempts to recreate the plane's last moments and supposedly shows a "UFO" (actually Korean Airlines flight 672) moving at "hypersonic" speed.

The alien abduction theory was given a boost from an unlikely source when CCTV News tweeted that "Malaysian military found an unidentified flying object in Pulau Perak in the Strait of Malacca on Mar. 8th." (The network almost certainly wasn't referring to a UFO, but who knows?)

The plane was vaporised when it struck the 'hyperdimensional grid'

According to Disclose.tv, many people are "speculating" (you know an argument is pretty unlikely when even conspiracy theorists are hedging) that the disappearance of the plane could be due to the "hyperdimensional grid".

New Age thinker David Wilcock, who has written about hyperdimensional grids on Earth and other planets, argues that the Egyptian pyramids, which "can be lined up into a very narrow strip that runs straight north and south" form part of such a grid.

As our idea here is that these areas represent stress points of higher-dimensional, intelligent energy, both theories would fit. The higher frequencies of energy would render such things as spark plugs for chainsaws and batteries for electronic cameras inoperable, as it would actually change the vibratory rate of electromagnetic frequencies in that area, thus making them incompatible with ordinary devices.

This is a literally identical result to the observations that have been made when a UFO closely approaches an area; all mechanical / electrical items stop functioning. So, the same higher energy forces that the UFO is capable of harnessing will also arise from the Earth more powerfully in certain locations.

Under this theory, coming into contact with the grid may have caused the plane's electronics to malfunction, sending it tumbling to the ground. Or, the plane could have been vaporised or exploded by the electromagnetic frequencies present in the grid area.

The plane and its passengers have been taken somewhere and hidden

While my favourite version of this theory involves the plane being secreted on an "island near Beijing" (if you don't understand why this is funny, look at a map of China), Before It's News argues that MH370 has been transported to a secret, abandoned airport in Vietnam.

Our videographer gives us the facts surrounding this airliners ‘disappearance’ and makes the case that this craft may have been landed safely by terrorists/hijackers to later be used as a ‘weapon of mass destruction’ with passengers and crew now being held as hostages.

Cabal Times echoed this theory, but favours Diego Garcia as the plane's ultimate destination:

Diego Garcia is the strongest US military-air force base in the Indian Ocean. It served as a forwarding base in almost all American conflicts in the Gulf and in Afghanistan.  It was also a transit venue for the infamous “extraordinary renditions.” It possesses formidable radar capabilities, as well as several airstrips. And large hangars that can hide aircraft. To quote a commenter on a pilot’s website who believed the plane was in Diego Garcia:

"My speculation is of this being a super-duper, super-extraordinary form of rendition."

And most important of all, Diego Garcia has a staff who follow a code of not asking too many questions and keeping their eyes wide shut. Unlike Malaysia, there are no General Dauds in Diego Garcia, who would blurt out what they saw on military radar.

One piece of commonly cited "evidence" for this theory and similar ones is that relatives of the missing passengers have been able to call their loved ones' phones, but no one picks up. Of course, many phones don't go straight to voicemail when they're off, and some people disable the function altogether. (You can test this yourself by turning off your phone, removing the battery and calling your number from another line, most phones will ring before you reach voicemail.)

It's something to do with Edward Snowden

Reddit user Dark_Spectre puts forward this theory

So we have the American IBM Technical Storage Executive for Malaysia, a man working in mass storage aggregation for the company implicated by the Snowden papers for providing their services to assist the National Security Agency in surveilling the Chinese.. And now this bunch of US chip guys working for a global leader in embedded processing solutions (embedded smart phone tech and defense contracting) with equal NSA ties all together..on a plane..And disappeared..Coincidence??

These 21 people might not even be dead. My two running theories.

  1. Perhaps a little fast and furious dive under the radar to a flat water landing to rendezvous with a Chinese ship or sub for transport to a black-site for advanced interrogation, scuttling the plane along with the remaining passengers.(any oceanic trenches in fuel capacity distance?)

What would 200 lives be to the Chinese intelligence community for the chance to find out "exactly" the depth and scope of our intrusion.

  2. US intelligence got late wind that their flying brain-trust of 21 were going to be arrested/detained and interrogated upon landing in China and the US intelligence community deemed the risk too great to their Asian based espionage programs and took appropriate action to "sanitize" the plane in flight.

Photos of the two Iranians traveling on stolen passports were modified so... something

Glenn Beck-owned home of right-wing nutbaggery The Blaze spotted that the photos released to the media of the two Iranian men who boarded MH370 using stolen passports had been tampered with (the photos were stiched together from several surveillance video shots).

Look at the position of their feet. Look at the shadows. Look at the shape of the bag, especially in the context that the man on the left doesn’t appear to be holding the same shape of bag in his top half.

After the issue started to gain traction, Malaysian officials confirmed the photo was altered, though said it was not done intentionally.

The missing flight and the stolen passports are a false flag to introduce global biometric identity cards

Interpol representatives have been highly critical in recent days of airlines and airports' failure to check passengers' passports against the crime agency's database of stolen and lost identity documents. The Secure Identitiy and Biometrics Association, an industry body, argued that the issue could have been avoided if biometric pasports were more widely used.

Naturally, Before It's News jumped on these statements as evidence that the disappearance of fight MH370 was a "false flag attack in order to push for a global biometrics system."
