Chinese premier Li Keqiang has joined President Xi Jinping in the exclusive online cartoon club. A cartoon of Li appears in an infographic published on the central government’s website on Wednesday.

The infographic depicts the work done in a routine meeting of the State Council held this week, presided over by Li, wearing a deep blue suit, a light blue tie, and a pair of glasses.

His colourful portrait was produced by the central government website in cooperation with Xinhua News Agency. It is the first time that an official media outlet published a cartoon of Li.

The Li cartoon comes after an infographic titled "Where did President’s Xi’s time go?" surprised the nation by featuring a cartoon version of the nation's president.

Since he assumed the presidency, Xi has used a number of Western PR tactics to present himself as far more approachable than his predecessors. In December he paid a visit to a baozi shop, bringing the restaurant great fame and business. He surprised the nation by carrying his own tray and paying from his own pocket.

Earlier this week, he took a stroll along Nanluoguxian, one of Beijing’s most well known streets, earning him widespread praise once again. He asked locals about their living conditions, and posed for photos. The two television cameras on hand to film the ‘surprise visit’ show just how calculated these PR events are however. But they seem to be working.
