A seven year old girl was found dead after she was pushed into a well by her sister-in-law on her way to school in Qingfeng, Henan province, the Dahe Daily reports.
The girl's school called her mother when the girl didn't show up for school on the morning of December 24. The girl's mother then called police, who offered a reward of 50,000 yuan ($8,065) for clues leading to her whereabouts.
On February 15, the girl's body was found in a well and her 23 year old sister-in-law, surnamed Dou, confessed that she had pushed her in there and ran away, leaving her to die.
The girl was adopted by the family. Dou was said to have been jealous that the girl was getting more attention from her mother-in-law than she was and thought the girl was a threat to her own position in the family and her inheritance, according to police.
