On Saturday, a 24 year old man from Hubei province proposed to his girlfriend while riding a trained dolphin.

Fang Peng had been planning the elaborate proposal for over two years, with the assistance of dolphin trainers at Polar Ocean World in Wuhan, he was able to pull it off.

Fang and girlfriend Li Yun were watching a dolphin performance at 2pm when Fang was selected to "volunteer" to take part. The challenge involved going one on one with a dolphins in a hula-hoop contest. When Fang lost he had to jump into the water as a penalty.

Fang, who had been practicing the next move every day at the park for the previous week, then emerged from the water atop a dolphin, from which he asked Li to marry him. She said yes

"You always said I'm not romantic enough. I will show you romance today," Fang said.

Asked to describe what her relationship with Fang had been like prior to the elaborate proposal, Li told reporters: "He was dull and didn't do romantic things."

[Ed: Amazingly there doesn't seem to be video of the proposal itself, which seems like a massive oversight on Fang's part and almost makes the whole thing a waste of time, aside from, you know, love and stuff.]
