On Friday, Guangzhou residents in Huangpu got a real treat, as 700 drones were deployed at a nighttime show to celebrate the PRC’s 70th anniversary.

The drone show took place at Guangzhou’s science plaza, where various formations were made in the sky, including Tiananmen Square, the five-starred red flag, the number 70 (for the PRC’s anniversary), as well as ‘I Love You, China’ while the 1979 patriotic song of the same name played for nearly 10,000 attendees, Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

Watch the video below to see a short clip of the drone show being filmed by what appears to be another drone (VPN off):

Synchronized drone performances have become increasingly common in China. Last November, Guangzhou’s International Light Festival featured 300 drones that were synchronized to form various shapes to celebrate the country’s 40th anniversary of reform and opening up.

Last year, EHang broke the world record for the most drones used at an airborne show in Xi’an, according to South China Morning Post. The Guangzhou-based company was reportedly paid RMB10.5 million for the city’s record-breaking Labor Day performance.
