Takizawa Rola and other Japanese pornstars hired for Chinese tech firms' end-of-year parties

Silicon Valley doesn't have a monopoly on sexism and conspicuous consumption: Japanese porn stars and massive bonuses were the common theme at China's tech industry end-of-year parties

Qihoo 360 Technology, makers of incredibly annoying antivirus software installed on most Chinese PCs, invited Japanese pornstar, Takizawa Rola, to its annual party, reportedly following the lead of online clothing company Vancl, which hosted Sola Aoi in 2012. (The choice of Rola over Aoi shows how the former actress is overtaking her rival as China's porn star of choice.)

An unnamed Shanghai video game company is also believed to have booked Yui Hatano, another Japanese pornstar, to attend its end-of-year bash.

Several companies also handed out luxury cars and cash bonuses to employees. UC Web, a mobile browser provider, handed out 10 Audis while Qihoo gave employees a two million yuan ($330,000) car and one million yuan ($165,000) in cash.

Upstart smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi Tech gave employees an eight day tour of Bali for two.

Li Dongluo, a public relations executive in Beijing, told CNS that the lavish parties are designed both to attract attention and top talent, though the inclusion of porn stars makes it clear that Silicon Valley isn't the only tech industry with a gender problem
