On July 5, a man stabbed his former lover with a fruit knife on the street in Foshan.

The attack occurred while the woman was biking along Ronggui Jie Dao in Shunde district. According to the Paper, the man had been waiting for her to ride by that morning and, upon seeing her, rushed at the woman with a knife, stabbing her multiple times.

At 7.46am, the police were called, promptly arriving on the scene and arresting the assailant. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

One eyewitness told a local reporter that the victim was stabbed in the abdomen and possibly the arm, noting that a lot of blood was visible on her clothes and at the site of the attack. According to a video post by Kankan News, the man did not flee the scene after his vicious assault; instead, he sat next to the woman on the ground, smoking a cigarette while she bled out.

Unlike the recent and disturbing attack in Dalian, where a man senselessly beat a female stranger on the sidewalk, the assailant and the victim were in a relationship. According to the woman’s family members, she has a husband in her hometown, but they had been going through a rough patch. She had been seeing the man in Foshan but told him that she wanted to end their relationship.

Police are currently investigating the case.
