At 3.29pm on Wednesday afternoon, a coach bus caught on fire on an elevated road in Haizhu District.

The incident took place near the Dongxiao Nan Lu exit, causing a major traffic jam in a car-heavy part of Canton. According to a post by Southern Metropolis Daily, no casualties have been reported as of yet. Eight fire trucks were immediately dispatched to the scene, with people filming the horrible sight from nearby buildings and surrounding streets.

Temporary traffic control measures have been taken from south of Haiyin Bridge to the Xingang Xi overpass.

In February 2018, another bus in Haizhu District became engulfed in flames outside Exit A of Xiaogang Metro Station on Changgang Dong Lu.

One silver lining for people heading back to Haizhu after a long day of work: you’ll probably have more time to finish that audiobook you’ve been putting off.
