Jimmer Fredette, also known as ‘The Mormon Megalodon,’ had the game of his career on Sunday, putting up a league record 40 points in the fourth quarter, which rounded out a flawless 75-point masterpiece, to go along with eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
In other words, the man put on a clinic.
Even with such a statistically savory performance, the Shanghai Sharks still suffered defeat at the hands of the home squad, Beijing Beikong. The game went down to the final seconds when Beikong guard Pierre Jackson sealed the deal with a crisp three-pointer to win 137-136.

If you're a fan of Jimmer, you may recall his 73-point game against the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions back in 2017. That game also happened to end in a brutal double-overtime loss on the road. Fredette is now tied for second all-time for points scored in a single game in the CBA, with the record held by Errick McCollum who scored 82 points in a game with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in 2015.
The Shanghai Sharks are currently in third place with a 7-3 record while the Beijing Beikong squad have had a rough start, with a 3-7 record three weeks into the season.
Currently, the Guangdong Southern Tigers are the only undefeated team in the league, boasting a 10-0 record in which they’ve averaged nearly 120 points per game. The Shenzhen Leopards have also been on a hot streak, winning their last four games, including a monstrous 152-point effort against Tianjin. Meanwhile, Guangzhou Long-Lions are sitting at .500, losing their previous four games by a margin of over nine points.
