34 Restaurants Awarded Michelin Stars in 2019 Shanghai Guide

The annual day of reckoning for Shanghai's chefs and restaurateurs is upon us for the third time: it's the release of the 2019 Michelin Guide, AKA the world's most respected (and feared) restaurant guide.

Last year's list ruffled more than a few feathers in the F&B community for being so similar to the 2017 Michelin Guide. The guidebook's inaugural list received criticism for recognizing a disproportionate number of  Hong Kong- and Taiwanese-owned chains over local Shanghainese cuisine.

So has that changed this year? Find out below.

Three Stars

"A restaurant worth a special journey, indicating exceptional cuisine where diners eat extremely well, often superbly. Distinctive dishes are precisely executed, using superlative ingredients."
