Shanghai's Ultraviolet Earns a Spot on World's 50 Best Restaurants List

Shanghai’s very own Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet earned a spot on World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2018, ranking #24 overall.

Ranking first was Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy, followed by El Celler de Can Roca in Spain and Mirazur in France.

No other restaurants from Greater China appeared on the list, despite a handful of places from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan being ranked on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list earlier this year.

Ultraviolet ranked #8 on Asia’s Top 50, followed by another Shanghai-based restaurant, FuHeHei at #30.

Although there were not any other restaurants from China on this list, there were a few from around Asia. Gaggon (Bangkok, Thailand) ranked at #5, Den (Tokyo, Japan) at #17, Narisawa (Tokyo) at #22, Odette (Singapore) at #28, Nihonryori RyuGin (Tokyo) at #41 and Nahm (Bangkok) at #49.
