Yesterday, a shocking video of a man forcefully dragging a female neighbor into his apartment made the rounds on Chinese social media.
The short clip appears to be CCTV footage from a residential building, and begins with a man in underwear walking idly around a hall, then entering one of the rooms.
A little later, a woman wearing glasses emerges from a different apartment. As she passes by his doorway, the man grabs her arm and attempts to pull her inside.
She puts up a fight, and the two struggle until the man finally seizes her by the leg and wrestles her inside.
The fate of the unidentified woman and her attacker remained unknown until early this morning, when police in Bao'an District, Shenzhen, released a statement on Weibo.
According to police, the attempted abduction happened on April 16 in a local apartment building. At about 6.50am, a woman surnamed Wu was forced into the apartment of her 30-year-old neighbor, whose last name is Ye.
Wu's roommate heard her cries for help and called police, who arrived on the scene not long afterwards. Ye is currently being detained on suspicion of attempted rape.
