China Southern Airlines reported an emergency landing at Changsha in Hunan province on Monday. The plane was forced to land after a fire alarm went off in the cargo after its departure from Nanjing en route to Guilin.
According to Shine, the airline crew conducted the emergency exit safely, however, one of the 151 passengers was injured as the rest of the passengers successfully exited the aircraft via the evacuation slide after landing in Changsha.
Flight CZ6406 took off from Nanjing Lukou International Airport at 7.50pm and landed two hours later at Changsha Airport.
One of the crew members discovered the alarm was turned on, but there was no fire to be found. The airline is still investigating the incident and determining whether it was caused due to a technical error or a simple mistake.
Nonetheless, it was a horrifying experience for passengers, with footage showing some screaming during the evacuation. But according to China Southern Airlines, the crew effectively carried out the evacuation process according to the safety manual.
Less than 24 hours later, passengers on another plane that made a planned stopover in Changsha experienced a similarly distressing incident after a man claimed a hijacking was underway mid-flight.
