Man Caught With 276 Porn DVDs at Shenzhen Border

There don't seem to be many things a daring, desperate or just plain dumb individual won’t try to smuggle across the Shenzhen border. From iPhones, watches and diamonds, to blood, bullets, cocaine and turtles, guards at the checkpoints between Hong Kong and the mainland have seen it all… almost.

The latest bust occurred on August 17, when a biantai Hong Kong resident was caught by border officers while attempting to smuggle 276 pornographic DVDs into the mainland, according to South China Morning Post.

When guards at the Shatoujiao checkpoint noticed the man acting a bit dodgy (as anyone with a sack full of porn probably does), they scanned his bag and found the 276 naughty discs tucked inside.

You might well be thinking, ‘who the hell watches porn DVDs anyway?’ Well, if the suspect is to be believed, the answer is not many people.

The man, whose name was not disclosed, claimed that he is a junk collector who stumbled upon the dirty digital goldmine on the ground while working.

Pornography is illegal in the mainland, as is smuggling 'yellow' content across the border, according to Shenzhen customs.

Shenzhen’s anti-smuggling department has received the case and the investigation is ongoing.

It was not mentioned in the report whether the man intended to distribute the material or keep it all to himself. We speculate that he may have come to the mainland to take a 276-day 'holiday.'
