At roughly 6am this morning, a yellow warning signal was issued by China’s Central Meteorological Observatory for the severe rainstorms expected to hit Guangdong between 8am today, May 15, and 8am tomorrow, May 16.
According to their report, the majority of Guangdong will experience heavy rains totaling 100-200 millimeters and averaging 20-40 millimeters per hour, with the most intense periods reaching 60 millimeters per hour.
This storm comes just a week after record rains hit the province on May 7, which forced more than 6,000 people to relocate due to flooding.

The eastern part of Guangxi, southern Jiangxi, southern Hunan, southern Fujian and Hainan will also experience torrential rain today.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution in case of flooding. Local transportation departments will be monitoring roads throughout the day and closing any they determine dangerous, according to AutoNavi.
