Over 6,000 People Relocated in Guangzhou Due to Record Rains, Flooding

Guangzhou was visited by rain yesterday, May 7, and with it came a bout of flooding that caused a significant amount of disruption in several districts.

According to GRT Radio, close to 7,000 people (6,925 to be exact) were relocated and a total of 172 houses collapsed as a result of the downpour, in addition to a number of landslides in the city’s more mountainous areas.

Huadu, Zengcheng, Huangpu and Baiyun Districts experienced the brunt of the (alleged) record-breaking rainfall, with Guangzhou’s CBD escaping with less aggressive precipitation.

Fortunately, no one was killed in the deluge.
