Five Chinese cities were ranked among the "most dynamic in the world," according to the 2017 Global City Momentum Index, which was just released yesterday by real estate firm JLL.
Shanghai was the highest ranked city in Chinese mainland on the list, landing at fourth overall. It came behind Bangalore, Ho Chi Minh City and "Silicon Valley," which ranked at number one, two and three respectively.
The index studied 134 cities overall, tracking the speed of change in their economies and real estate markets and ranking them according to "momentum" in three key areas (socio-economic, commercial real-estate and long-term growth).
Top 10 in red, 11-20 in light gray, 21-30 in dark grey.
Four other Chinese cities made the Top 30, with Beijing at #15, Shenzhen at #22, Hangzhou at #26 and Nanjing at #29. Other Chinese cities were among the 134 shortlisted, but didn't make the Top 30 cut. Those included Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Tianjin, Wuhan and Xi'an. Taipei and Hong Kong also missed the list.
