Bundle up, because China is in for a chilly week!

From today until Thursday, temperatures across central and eastern China will plummet six to 10 degrees Celcius, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC). In some places such as Henan, Anhui, Hubei and Hunan, the temperatures will drop as much as 16 degrees as the strongest cold front of the season hits.

The cold front will be accompanied by heavy winds, rain and snow.

Northern China will likely get hit the worst, with Beijing recently on a blizzard alert as the capital was hit with its first snowfall of the season over the weekend. Snow also shut down some highways in Liaoning, Heilongjiang and Jilin.

Shanghai, meanwhile, will be hit by drizzle over this week, with temps gradually expected to drop down to seven degrees on Thursday and Friday morning.

Down south, Guangzhou temperatures are expected to drop to the teens, with a low of 12 degrees forecast for Thursday.

The NMC issued a yellow alert yesterday in advance of the upcoming cold snap.
