Buying a house can be easier than ever before, because apparently all you need is 20 phones and 20 boyfriends.

That's supposedly how one woman did it, anyway, in a story that's making waves on Chinese social media.

The story first made the rounds online in a post on the popular blogging forum, Tianya Yidu. In the post, author 'Proud Qiaoba' (writing under a pseudonym) described a Shenzhen woman nicknamed 'Xiaoli,' who allegedly had a few more boyfriends than the average lady — 20 to be exact.

As the story goes, Xiaoli apparently asked each of her significant others to buy her an iPhone 7. Once she received her new smartphones, she sold them to a phone recycling website, turning a profit of RMB6000 per phone and RMB120,000 in total. She then used the money for a deposit on a house in the countryside.

Of course the internet was there to created a hashtag, with this particular story generating one that translates to ‘20 mobiles for a house.’ It's been used over 13 million times.

Chinese social media users have been commenting on the story quite frequently, with one writing, "I can't even find one boyfriend. She can actually find 20 boyfriends at the same time and even get them to buy her an iPhone 7. Just want to ask her to teach me such skills."

Some people were suspicious of the story, and speculated that it was simply a marketing ploy by the phone recycling company Hui Shou Bao. However, Hui Shou Bao and a company spokesperson were able to confirm that they purchased 20 iPhones from a woman at the beginning of October, according to the BBC.

The social media publicity of Xiaoli’s story has supposedly affected her day-to-day life, and she has declined interview requests to keep her privacy. Sounds like she has a lot of explaining to do, so she’s lucky she can’t take calls.
