A man has been arrested by Shanghai police after a video emerged of him attacking and throwing several Mobikes into the Huangpu River.
Eyewitnesses reported that the man began trying to destroy at least six bikes before throwing three into the river. The man continued to damage the bikes until he was stopped by Mobike staff, who rushed over to the scene on Zhongshan Lu near the Bund.
However, as the staff arrived to see him dump the bikes in the river, he fled the scene. The man, who was also caught on CCTV, was eventually apprehended by police.
Motives behind this strange rampage remain unclear.

Mobikes have become a cheap and easy way for many folks in Shanghai and Beijing to get around. The company, which is growing at a rate of knots, has just released its new, lightweight model, the Mobike Lite.
Following significant capital investment, the ‘Uber of Bikes' is looking to expand its service across the country as well as making their bikes more accessible to foreigners. This is in contrast to the actual Uber, which no longer offers English-language service in China.
