Massive Explosion Leaves 10 Dead, 157 Wounded in Shaanxi

At lease 10 people were killed and 157 were injured in a massive explosion that took place in Xinmin, Shaanxi province yesterday. 

Following the explosion, the town was left with a 13-foot-wide and 6.5-foot-deep crater. Local authorities have not revealed the cause of the blast, but residents believe it was due to explosives being illegally kept in basement of the building that exploded.

After the detonation, rescue teams were searching for survivors among the debris. It is estimated that over 70 firefighters are helping with the search.

The explosives went off around 2pm yesterday in a residential building, leaving the building and street destroyed.

Some survivors fled the sight soaked in blood. A doctor working in the local ER reported that over 30 patients had checked in because of injuries from the explosion, however, most of the injuries were minor.
