We’ve all been warned of the dangers of the internet, but one unfortunate man from Shandong fell victim to some public shaming when he was caught enjoying a bit of square dancing in Weifang.
The square-dancing man, surnamed Liu, was scared that the people who were recording videos of him taking part in a public square dance earlier this summer would post them online. Reportedly, people in the crowd were laughing and taking pictures of him.
He couldn’t accept the fate of becoming an embarrassing internet sensation, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.
"How could anyone possibly stop such a thing from spreading on the internet?" we hear you ask. Well, Liu came up with a rather unconventional and unconvincing method: physically destroying the neighborhood’s internet infrastructure…
Liu, who supposedly only had a primary school education, went out in the evening and destroyed four optical cable network receivers, causing over RMB100,000 in damage.
Police eventually arrested Liu on August 19.
Despite scouring the internet for footage of Liu, we haven’t had much success. This doesn’t mean his method was successful, but rather that he actually didn’t have much to worry about.
