At least five people were killed this afternoon after a seaplane crashed into a bridge in Shanghai's Jinshan District.

Shanghai Daily reports that the 9-seat Cessna 208B propeller seaplane was on its maiden voyage, a trial flight, when it crashed into a bridge along the Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway in Hangzhou Bay at 12:20pm. The flight had taken off from Jinshan City Beach.

Ten people were on board, including eight passengers, the pilot and co-pilot. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where five were later pronounced dead. Of the survivors, one remains in critical condition, while the other four were "slightly injured."

The pilot had 40 years of flying experience. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
