Video of Chinese bank employees being spanked and berated onstage during staff training has recently gone viral.
In the video, eight employees can be seen standing on stage and being scolded by a microphone-wielding host. The host demands each employee explain their poor work performance to the entire audience. Some of the reasons vocalized include “failing to make a personal breakthrough," “inadequate team cohesiveness," and "failing to exceed myself."
Following the humiliating onstage confessions, the man tells each employee to "get your butts ready" and then uses a wooden stick to spank each of them.

The video was reportedly recorded at a staff training session in Shanxi province. The South China Morning Post reports that two executives at the bank were fired after the video went viral, though the spanking was allegedly conducted by an independent trainer.
The SCMP also reports that an additional 16 employees were forced to have their heads shaved as punishment during a separate part of training.
The video sparked public outcry, with many web users arguing that the spanking punishment violated the employees' rights.
